A new Maritime Spatial Planning Project added to the European Atlas of the Seas!

The Maritime Spatial Planning layer has been updated with the addition of a new project, SIMCelt, It is a cross-border project involving partners from the UK, Ireland and France.It aims to support cooperation between Member States on the implementation of the Maritime Spatial Planning Directive in the Celtic Seas.

Maritime Spatial Planning is about planning when and where human activities take place at sea – to ensure these are as efficient and sustainable as possible. Maritime spatial planning involves stakeholders in a transparent way in the planning of maritime activities.
